Not my best angle, but full term at 37 weeks....

just set this slow cooker to "keep warm".
I felt validated at my appointment today when as Dr. Hoover was listening to the baby's heartbeat, she was squirming around so much that the doppler was bouncing all over the place. She just never quits! "I don't trust you, little girl," Dr. Hoover said, and then let me know that while she still seems to be head down, we'd be doing a scan at check-in, just to make sure.
My belly was measuring a week behind last week, which also confirmed that the baby has dropped...making a lot of sense of the increasing bathroom visits and the extra effort it takes to cross my legs these days! So now we just sit and wait. Or walk and wait, as I plan to do!
Ben also visited the hospital today! He's got a lot to learn about becoming a big brother, so I took him to UAB's "new additions" class for older siblings. He ended up being the only pupil, so we had a private tutoring session by the wonderful Ms. Freda.
Class started with crayons and a coloring book,
and a story all about welcoming a new baby home.
We then went on a tour of the Labor and Delivery unit,

and Ben learned how to push all the buttons on Mommy's hospital bed. (That should be a lot of fun in a few weeks!)
He was most intrigued by the view. So many cars and construction equipment to see.

He then got to press the lullaby button signaling that a new baby had been born. I guess once he did that, he felt official enough to don the surgical mask and cap that he got in his packet.
Dr. B T Prentice, at your service
Then we took in a short film about being an older sibling and all the things that having a new baby would mean.

"Man, there's just so much to learn!"
After correctly answering the questions about if he is excited to be a big brother and would he come visit Mommy in the hospital and be gentle with the baby, ("mmm-hmm") he earned his Big Brother certificate.

Ben's gonna be such a great big brother! You're killing me with these pics though! Big brother sucking his thumb made me tear up!
Stacey, you look fabulous and there is no doubt that Ben will be an awesome big bro! Love the pics!
I am cracking up over Ben's sibling school! In no way does that format look like it was designed for a toddler, but I can tell her stepped up to the plate and took it very seriously.
The picture of him in the surgical mask and hat is so adorable! I needed that for Lawson. All he does is try to poke Judah in the eye!:)
