Elf on the Shelf strikes again!

Our elf, Sneaky, arrived in town the Saturday after Thanksgiving this year. He made a happy little entrance with new Christmas pj's and plates/cups and other goodies, including a bag of North Pole pancake mix. (I told Sneaky later that I wished those NP sprinkles were those big chunky ones so they wouldn't have dissolved when baking.)

A letter from Sneaky!
Rocking her antlers
Sneaky spent the season getting into all sorts of mayhem and mischief.

slurping the syrup
Katie Beth wondering why she hadn't thought to do that yet
wielding the light saber
hanging unmentionables on the tree!
pretending he was a baby
teaching the toys the true reason for the season
enjoying a relaxing marshmallow bath
He even traveled with us to Nashville and Canada, because Ben didn't want him to spend Christmas alone. :) Thanks for coming, you Sneaky elf, you! See ya next year!

Will is four months!

Dear Will,
Time is flying by!

weight: 16 lbs
size: 6 months
diapers: 3

Oh Will. We love you so much!

You continue to be the sweetest addition to our family -

and such a charmer, always ready with a smile and a cuddle.

And maybe a chuckle if I tickle you under the arm! Our babysitter commented that you're the only baby she's ever known who smiles and laughs during a diaper change.

Your hair keeps growing and growing and people constantly tell me what a pretty baby girl I have, even when you're wearing all blue.

And how about those sideburns?!

You are babbling and cooing up a storm and have recently discovered that your hands are able to grab and hold...usually it's your paci though, which you yank out of your mouth and then can't get back in. Or my hair, which you twist up in your clammy grip at lightning speed.

You're not rolling over yet but are pretty good at pushing up on your arms.

And it's also a nice way to show off your rooster hair!

We're working on figuring out a schedule, it's just hard when every day's plan is a little different. You're a good napper in the carseat fortunately, as long as it's in motion. This means no traffic jams or casual browsing at the store - keep it moving mom!

Eating is still your favorite pastime and something you are ready to do every three hours on the dot.

(Might be a little early for Thanksgiving dinner though)

And you got your first cold this month, despite my best efforts to keep your siblings' grimy hands off of you - they just love you too much to stay away.

Whether it was the cold or a growth spurt, I don't know, but you've decided sleeping through the night was a silly idea and now prefer to go to bed around 8 or 9 and wake to eat at about 2...and again at 5 or 6 and then sleep til 8 or 9. So there's a little more togetherness in the nights than I'd prefer, but I know it's only a phase and nothing my morning cup (or two) of coffee can't fix.

You've enjoyed your Bumbo seat and activity mat more this month, but are still partial to your swing during the day and nap nanny at night. I honestly do not know what we would do without those contraptions!

I look at you, Will, and my heart just bursts. Before you were born, I worried that our third child would just get caught in the shuffle, but you make that simply impossible with how irresistible you are to love.

So happy to call you mine,

Mommy

Lullabye medley and a Thanksgiving song

Ben and Katie Beth like to have a constant soundtrack following their daily routine. So far Katie Beth sticks to singing her favorites over and over until they blend into one long, confusing, anthem. Will clearly doesn't know what to think of her impromptu serenade!

Ben prefers to freestyle. Here's his Ode to the Turkey:

Sure to be a classic! Happy Thanksgiving!

Will is three months!

Dear Will,

You're three months old!

wears size 2-3 diapers
wears 3-6, 6 month clothes
weighs...a butterball turkey

I snapped your chair pic right before bed when I realized the day had just about passed us by. You weren't totally amused.

But you amuse us all the time!

Enjoying the new perspective you get in the Bumbo seat. Check out that head control! It's a great place to keep you happy for a few minutes...and it also keeps you, ahem, regular too.

But who doesn't love a nice bath anyway, right?

Your sweet smiles, calm disposition and endless cuddles definitely earned your title as our little pumpkin.

And your brother and sister cannot get enough!

You are now an international man of mystery with your official passport.

Wish we could've used this one for your mugshot though! (yikes!)

Bundled up for a brisk fall morning walk

Still swaddled and in the nap nanny, you are sleeping about 12 hours a night, sometimes waking for a quick feeding. But let loose on the activity mat, you've started showing signs that you're possibly ready to get a bit more mobile!

But we're enjoying this napping position most of all!

Holy cow, we can't get enough of you, kid. You were an amazing newborn and still such a perfect baby. We know it's loud here and a little crazy sometimes and you've had your eyes poked on more than one occasion, but we sure hope you've been as happy to be in our family these last three months as we are to have you!

You truly are the Best Baby Bro.

I love you too. xo

Will is two-months old!

Dear Will,
Happy two months!

weight - 13.35 pounds (95%)
height - 24.5 inches (98%)
head - 41 cm (88%)

wears size 2 diapers
wakes once a night or less to eat most nights
wears 3 months clothes

Well, we're still getting used to having a new name to say and write around here.
You are still Baby Will to most of us, and I wonder at what point you'll just become Will. And if you'll ever be William. I sometimes call you that, but it's more like a sweet nickname. I think you'll have to have your own business card before I could seriously call you that!

Or maybe if you just wore a tie.

...the tux may not be necessary.
But, seriously. I could eat you up!

We've had some good times in month two. A couple of playdates:
with sweet Maryn...the beautiful older woman in your life

and baby Charley, your bff that lives just down the street.

learning the ropes as my jogging buddy and also my learning that the key for baby #3 is to keep him portable in order to chase #1 and #2!

Biggest milestone in your second month was this:
a smirky little smile!
You started at six weeks and give them out pretty often...and even to Katie Beth, which means you really have no idea how close you've come to getting smothered and/or strangled by your sister.

Well, you might have some idea...

But it's only because she loves you at a level where she can't contain herself. I know the feeling by the way, and may be guilty of nibbling on your ears and cheeks a time or two myself.

And your big brother couldn't have been prouder the day he got to feed you a bottle.
Ben loves you so much. But he "really loves Will when he is awake"...and it's true, he gets very excited to see your baby blues wide open and tiny fists punching the air. He's so looking forward to teaching you how to ride a scooter and play spies. Cannot wait!

But I can.
All that will come soon enough and be so much fun.

But right now, I'm savoring your squishy parts and sweet "goo's" and "gah's" and all the time with you as my cuddlebug.

 I love you, Willi-yum!
