A cribside premonition

There was a moment last week, a moment around 4:30 a.m. to be exact, that a wave of fear washed over me. The monitor let me know that Ben had decided to start the day extra early, so I stumbled into his room hoping to convince him otherwise. Peering into his crib, I saw that he had - once again - broken free from his Kidpotomus Swaddler blanket. This particular morning, instead of an arm flailing above his head, however, both were free, as were his legs that he was pumping into the air with wild abandon. For a second, I wanted to be frustrated and disappointed that this supposedly proven sleep method was failing for my son. But then his wide eyes met mine and he squealed with glee; and I had to laugh. Happiness turned to the previously mentioned fear, however, when I realized that I'm really in for it with this one. From the swaddle escaping, to how he goes to sleep in the middle of the crib and wakes up pressed against the railing, and the constant jumping he likes to do in my lap, our time with our cuddly, sleepy bundle will all-too-soon be replaced with a full-throttle boy who's life's mission will be to run me ragged! Hopefully the energy will come, but if not, at least I'll be able to drink caffeine again by then!

"Hey Mom and Dad - swaddle this!"

Other things that have been keeping us busy lately:

These rings are no match for my brute strength.
(This was the very first time he grasped a toy. There's a chance that it only happened b/c the ring got caught in the crossfire of his ever-moving arms and hands, but still...it was a milestone!)

Bundled up during April's cold snap...what the heck?!
