On March 7, Tyler and I celebrated four years of marriage! Basically, it turned into a two-day feast...as any proper celebration should. Friday night, Tyler cooked pesto salmon with spinach and rice, which would rival any fancy schmancy restaurant in town. We followed that up with a "chocolate overload" cake with strawberries and a chick flick... because he owed me. Trust me.
After the winter weather in Nashville cleared up on Saturday, my parents drove down to get a "Ben fix." Their anniversary present to us (although it was clearly not a sacrifice for them!) was hanging out with Ben while Tyler and I wined and dined at one of those aforementioned fancy schmancy restaurants - Highlands Bar and Grill. Now before you start thinking we've been crying wolf with the whole "poor dental student family suffocated by student loans" act all these years, let me say that our dining experience was compliments of a generous gift certificate for Dr. Prentice's dental services over the holidays!
It's hard to decide what the best part of dinner was... Was it the warm, buttery sauce melted over grits for our appetizer or the decadent, smooth creaminess of the creme brulee? What about the flavorful, but not too salty Snapper for my entree? Or was it Tyler's entree of succulent, fall-off-the-bone...rabbit!?!?! Yes, that's right kiddos. Don't be surprised if the Easter bunny doesn't fill your basket this year...he filled Tyler's belly instead.
Getting dressed up and going out on the town was really fun for me ("What? Pants without a drawstring? Shoes that aren't fuzzy and that I can wear outside?!), and we had such a fun time talking about our life, and speculating about our plans for the future. And we also realized that a lot has happened in this last year of our marriage:
- I got a new job.
- My sister got married and we got a new brother-in-law.
- We moved from an apartment into our cute little house.
- We found out I was pregnant!
- Tyler graduated dental school.
- Tyler started his orthodontics residency.
- Tyler's brother and sister-in-law gave us a new niece.
- Ben was born!!!
Speaking of Ben...as great of a time as we had, I couldn't wait to grab that little peanut as soon as we walked in the door! Here are a couple of pictures from our evening:
All dressed up, with somewhere to go!
Ben's dressed up too! But the only place he's going is to bed!
Happy anniversary Tyler. You're a caring husband and friend and such a sweet and helpful father. What a lucky girl!
