Sneaky the Elf 2013

Our adopted elf, Sneaky, returned from the North Pole for another season of mischief and merriment the Sunday after Thanksgiving. He wrote the kids a note and brought new paint pens and pages to decorate…plus a special batch of Mrs. Claus' cinnamon rolls to start the day off the sugary way!

It is widely believed in these parts that Mrs. Claus works closely with Sister Schubert in the creation of these delectable morsels.

Every morning the kids ran through the house searching for Sneaky and evidence of his latest antics. Sneaky seems to operate in a maximum-impact-minimal-effort mentality, which I certainly appreciate when it comes to clean up.

One night he tried to haul our stash of Hersey kisses up the fireplace. But the dump truck wasn't strong enough and spilled them all over the floor. He ate a few kisses, then just gave up.

He put red stickers on each of the kid's noses in our family portrait hanging in the hall. Missed the picture of that - but made sure to get one the next day after he DREW red noses on them!

He swapped their stockings for undies (or diaper, as the case may be).

He took a ride on our nutcracker's shoulders.

Then his second attempt to get those kisses up the fireplace was foiled again by the toy soldiers who certainly took a stand to protect our sweets.

The morning after a Christmas party, we found him chowing down on our goodie tray!

Quite the daredevil, he went for a ride down the stairs in a toilet paper roll.

About halfway through the month, he must've been getting bored, because he brought down a tv that only plays Christmas songs and scenery for him and a few pals to pass the time with.

He also brought Santa pjs for the kids…and Katie Beth's doll.

He love monkey-ing around with our chimps from the beach, "Sandy" and "Dustin,"

appreciates the real reason for the season,

and apparently, he's a bit of a graffiti artist as he tagged our gingerbread house.

He's also talented in architecture and built a huge tower out of empty boxes in our garage. Ben had been stressed about not finding him before school, but this surprise made up for it.

In more death-defying stunt work, he rappelled from the balcony one night, using my favorite Christmas ribbon.

He is not, however, great at Rainbow Loom.

Sneaky spent a couple of extra nights back at the North Pole when one or two little someones couldn't keep themselves from touching him "just a yitteh bit." One morning when he returned, he had instructions for them to ask Mom to check her email for a message from Santa for them both.
Eyes wide. Smiles big. Couldn't believe Santa knew so much about them!

There were a few mornings that I didn't have time to capture, but those are the highlights before we packed up and headed to Canada.

Of course, Sneaky jumped into the suitcase that night!

He made his last appearance this year on Christmas morning (because he'd missed Christmas Eve due to the aforementioned breaking of the touching rule), in the handmade stocking Ben had crafted for him and left the kids another sweet note looking forward to Christmas 2014!

See you in 11 months, little buddy!
